The protest took place: over 200 participants, petition handed to the vice-voivode

Thank you to everyone who came. What has already been achieved, what comes next and what you can do right now.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to stand up for their rights. Without you none of this would have happened. Between 200 and 300 people gathered outside the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office — and we are glad that so many people are ready to act in practice, not just in words.

The petition was handed over

The petition prepared for the protest was signed by a large number of people and handed to the first vice-voivode Emil RojekPL🌐 Translate.

It contained 11 points from the protest demands — those that fall within the competence of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. The remaining 4 points concern nationwide matters: the repeal of art. 100d, legislative changes and digitalisation. They are addressed to the government and the Sejm, not to the Voivode.

First results

  • The vice-voivode promised 24 new posts in the department for foreigners, to speed up the handling of cases.
  • A working meeting with the office has been agreed, to discuss the matters we raised.

A promise of staffing changes nothing by itself. What matters is what kind of posts these will be — people who conduct cases and issue decisions, or front-desk service — when they start work, and how that shows up in the waiting times. We will ask these questions at the working meeting and report what we hear.

What comes next

We know that one assembly will not solve this problem. But it is clear that things have moved: the office used to simply ignore us, and now it is making contact and declaring a willingness to talk.

The problem built up over years and one decision will not change it. It is also nationwide — 4 of our demands did not even make it into the petition to the Voivode, because they fall outside his competence.

We will report on how things develop and launch further actions.
